Core Course and News

Posted 09:30 AM, August 02, 2007, by tcn1974

This Tuesday, July 1 Core Course will be split into two groups:

In the Clark Center Auditorium the interns will continue with "Intern Crash Course" from 7-8AM, then procede to EPIC training.

In S360 (Behind Peets Coffee in the Clark Center) the R2-R3s will hear about Consults and Ventilator Management with Dr Feldman, Dr Weissenfluh and Dr Maggio.

R4-R5 can chose how to help.

CORE COURSE STANDARD FORMAT
1. There will be an assigned chapter from Sabiston, Greenfield or Cameron (your choice).

2. The designated resident will give a 30 minute (20 slide) presentation on the "essential points" of the reading. The resident must send this presentation to the attending no later than Thursday of the week before for their review.

3. The attending will do case based teaching (ie: pimping) for 45-60minutes. They will be asked to provide 3 cases and slides to highlight the "takehome points" on each case. Pimping will be from R1-R5, level appropriate. Medstudents may sit in and listen, but we've asked that the attendings focus on the residents during this conference.

Some tips:
- the resident's lecture is not sufficient to prepare you for the attending's questions, so its a good idea to read - even if its only a little bit.

- there is no shame in giving a wrong answer - you're among friends.
